If you thought this was a place like Tahiti, then you are completely mistaken.

Tafiti is Microsoft's new search engine(something like that) which allows you to do research, find images, books, RSS feeds and news.

After searching for the material, you can save it to a neat shelf by just merely dragging the link to the box and labelling it.
It's really neat.

It uses Microsoft's new Silverlight technology which is Microsoft's answer to Adobe Flash and Javascripts( You'll get more info on wikipedia).

You have to install Silverlight first, by going here.

Then just straight head to the site and be amazed!

Ubuntu Linux--> It's one hell of a software!

Yesterday I was browsing through CNET and I found a video which explained the steps to install Ubuntu Linux which is an OS like Mac and Windows.

The name of the installer is Wubi.

I thought maybe I would give it a shot and downloaded the 9MB setup file.

After runnung it, it asked me my username and password and then started downloading Ubuntu itself!

I guess 700MB was downloaded in about 6 hours for me. This could be a nightmare if you have a dial up connection.

After the installation finished, I was prompted to reboot and I did so.

This time it gave me 2 options: Microsoft Windows and Wubi Ubuntu. I highlighted the Wubi Ubuntu option and pressed enter, and it booted up in Ubuntu Linux! It was kinda chocolaty and very simple at the start. But when I turned on the desktop effects, the real fun started.

I could literally change the screen! It actually moved like a cuboid! It's got this 3D effect which is really cool!

Then, when I took a window and shook it, there was this woogle effect! It literally woogled!

And the best part is it comes with free software. A free OS coming with great effects and free software like Firefox, Open Office.org, Gimp, etc. is amazing. Go on, give it a try.

I personally think it's more advanced than Vista if you add something called Beryl which gives Ubuntu a twinkling starlight effect. Magnifico!

Sony Ericsson PSP Phone?

Yes, that's it. Mobile gaming has taken one step forward with the PSP Phone to be made by Sony Ericsson. But why is Sony making a PSP phone?

The answer to that question is simple - Controls. Mobiles have lacked gaming controls and Sony Ericsson is going to integrate gaming controls in this phone.

This recent patent filling shows you what it's gonna look like:



But there is a twist in this phone. When it's in normal mode, it will look like a normal phone with a numeric keypad, menu buttons, etc.

But when you turn the screen around 180 degrees, it turns into a portable gaming device and the menu buttons become your controls.

And there is no need to worry about games. It supports UMD's used to play games on the PSP.

The "New" PSP

The rumoured redesigned PSP has come!

This one is slimmer, 33% lighter, and about 4/5th the thickness of the original PSP. It has a better battery life and it even has a TV output which means you can watch movies on TV straight from your PSP.

The new PSP is available in piano black, ice silver, and ceramic white.
I even heard that there was a special Darth Vader edition!

The new PSP will sell for around $200 and will be available in Asia and Europe by Christmas.

Apple Inc. will follow up its debut iPhone with a cheaper version based on the iPod nano, a JPMorgan financial analyst said yesterday, echoing comments last week by bloggers scouring the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office database.

Kevin Chang, a Taiwan-based analyst with New York's JPMorgan Chase & Co., said that Apple will release a less-expensive iPhone in the fourth quarter, according to Reuters.

Chang, who based his forecast on unnamed sources in the supply channel and an Apple application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filed last week, said a follow-on to the current iPhone could be based on the iPod nano, Apple's flash drive-based music player. "We believe that iPod nano will be converted into a phone because it's probably the only way for Apple to launch a lower end phone without severely cannibalizing iPod nano," Chang told Reuters.

At US$300, a scaled-down nano-based iPhone might sell as many as 30 million to 40 million units in 2008, Chang argued. Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs, has fixed the iPhone sales target through 2008 at 10 million handsets.

Apple's iPod nano currently sells for between $149 and $249.

Chang's take comes after bloggers last week noticed a July 5 patent application titled "Touch pad with symbols based on mode" that, they theorized, could serve as the interface for an entry-level iPhone.

Both Unwired View and MyiTablet," for instance, noted that the patent described a touchpad-based device that would serve as only phone and iPod. Unlike the current iPhone, the cheaper alternative would not boast a large screen or allow Internet browsing.

The patent application spells out a touchpad, similar to the iPod's click-wheel, that would change modes -- and its display -- depending on the application. When in phone mode, for example, the circular touchpad could show dialing numbers in a style reminiscent of long-obsolete rotary phones. Switch to music mode and the touchscreen reverts to a traditional iPod click-wheel for traversing artist or genre lists.

Apple introduced the iPhone on June 29 to fanfare and long lines of customers.

Basic Internet tips for Dummies

1. Get a personalized homepage - first open a Google account for free, then go to Google search and type in personalized homepage. you can then create your personal homepage with current weather, illusions that change, jokes, comics and many many more. Trust me, its awesome

2. To download anything from online, get Bitcomet( a program ) and then insert a link and it will download anything you want. It downloads at a much faster rate than your browser. It even downloads torrents!



3. For free online live cricket and free movies, download Sopcast ( a program ) for free and then select the channel you want to watch - for free, cricket is also available.

4. Check out my custom list at Spare no Wish- it too has some useful websites.

5. Keep checking out Myspace for more helpful stuff.

My first Experience with Safari

I was browsing the net today, just searching for more info about the Dubai release of the iPhone when I suddenly came across
the Safari browser. It was released in it's BETA version for Windows. Safari was always meant for the MAC OS, but it seems like the folks at Apple wanted to take advantage of the iPhone's instant success.

It was an 8 Mb file, I got it downloaded in about 2 minutes. It got installed in about a minute and I fired up the browser.
My first impression of it was, it looked like iTunes. It looked so clean, no extra addons or stuff, and I didn't need flash to play games or view videos in Youtube.

I think Apple has focused more on the performance of the browser, not the looks.
It loaded pages much faster than IE, and a little faster than Firefox.

I have read reviews on the net that this browser is full of bugs, and the security isn't really good, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't download it. But keep an extra browser with you if you don't like it. I've heard incidents about it crashing and one incident where it took 729 MB of someone's computer.

I haven't experienced a single problem until now. It hasn't crashed even once. A step in the right direction for Apple.

The British Board of Film Classification banned Manhunt 2 from sale in UK due to its "unremitting bleakness" and "casual sadism."

Even the Entertainment Software Rating Board is ready to hand down its own most restrictive rating to the latest controversial offering from Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games.

A Take-Two representative told that the ESRB has issued an initial rating of AO for Adults Only to Manhunt 2.

The AO rating would severely limit the game's immense sales potential, as most major American retailers have chosen not to carry games rated AO.

While Take-Two doesn't agree with the idea of an AO-rated Manhunt 2, one parent watchdog group believes it's only appropriate.

A Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood demanded that the ESRB give Manhunt 2 an AO rating, saying that "harmful effects of ultra-violent video games on children will be magnified by playing them on the interactive Nintendo Wii system."

The group's announcement contained a statement from Dr. Michael Rich, director of the Center on Media and Child Health at Children's Hospital Boston, who explained, "The content of Manhunt 2 and the unique physical interaction with the Wii control combine to take [the game's simulation] a level closer to reality--we can expect that the effects of this experience will be even greater."
